Sipit Pribumi, Kolonial Lokal

I'm not a big fan of the new Governor, tapi saya termasuk yang merasa aneh ketika ada yang memasalahkan bahkan melapor isi pidato yang berisi kata "pribumi" itu

Dari segi sudut pandang pelapor, saya bukan "pribumi". Tetapi saya juga tetap merasa sangat biasa-biasa saja ketika ada yang menggunakan diksi "pribumi" di dalamnya

Saya tak ingin ikut-ikutan membahas definisi dari segi bahasa, atau dari segi politik, sebab sudah banyak insight yang ditulis berkaitan dengan itu, saya hanya ingin berbagi

Saya lahir dan besar di Palembang, kota dimana anda akan dengan sangat mudah menemukan orang sipit dan putih di tengah kota, pinggir, atau pinggir sekali

Itu menandakan sejarah panjang kaum Cina di Palembang, semenjak zaman Cheng Ho, hingga walisongo. Dari hubungan dagang hingga tentu saja penyebaran agama

Menariknya, dulu ketika saya belum Muslim, mereka bisa membedakan mana sipit "pribumi" dan sipit yang bukan "pribumi", walau penampakannya sama

Selepas Muslim, saya baru paham total, bahwa meski sama-sama sipitinya dengan Cina Muslim yang sudah "pribumi", mengapa saya tetap dianggap pendatang

Rupanya nilai mereka bukan nilai saya, prinsip mereka bukan prinsip saya, yang mereka cintai tak saya cintai, bahkan saya enggan bergaul dengan mereka, saya eksklusif

Setelah memeluk Islam, saya bagian mereka, saya sekarang "sipit pribumi", berbagi nilai dan cita-cita, prinsip dan aqidah, saya mencintai mereka dan mereka mencintai saya

Tak perlu banyak bahasan saya pikir, bila anda sudah menyatu dengan nilai, prinsip, dan perasaan dengan mereka yang ingin kebaikan, anda "pribumi", dan tak mudah tersinggung

Sebab yang diakui sebagai pribumi adalah siapa yang memberi manfaat, yang mencintai, yang peduli, yang berbagi aqidah, rasa, dan cita-cita yang sama-sama mulianya

Indonesia punya nilai-nilai itu, dari Islam yang sudah dipeluk dan mengakar hingga sanubari ummat, Sesiapa yang mengajak taat, itulah pribumi, yang tak suka, saya tak tahu

Apalagi, nuansa pelaporan ini penuh dendam kesumat, standar ganda, dan aroma kebencian. Pembela penjajah dan semua kepentingannya, itulah orang lokal tapi kolonial ( Felix Siauw )

Warning over ocean life extinction

History is repeating itself as global warming threatens a reoccurrence of extinction and upheaval in the oceans last seen 180 million years ago, scientists have warned.

A study of ancient rocks and fossils along the North Yorkshire coast offers clues about what to expect in the next century if climate change predictions hold true.

During the Early Jurassic era, temperatures increased by the same level forecast for the decades to come. As temperatures rose, oxygen levels fell, causing drastic changes to marine communities.

More than a quarter of ocean genera - families of species - became extinct, as did 5% of biological "families". In taxonomy, a "family" is a larger group consisting of several genera. For instance, the family canidae includes domestic dogs, coyotes, foxes, jackals and wolves. While the Jurassic seas eventually recovered from the effects of global warming, the ecosystems they harboured were drastically changed.

Professor Richard Twitchett, from the University of Plymouth's school of geography, earth and environmental sciences, said: "Our study of fossil marine ecosystems shows that if global warming is severe enough and lasts long enough it may cause the extinction of marine life, which irreversibly changes the composition of marine ecosystems."

The researchers learned about environmental conditions on the sea floor during the Early Jurassic period by studying sedimentary rocks and the marine fossils they contain. They then correlated the ecological findings with published data on changes in temperature, sea level and oxygen concentrations. The results are reported in the online journal Public Library of Science ONE.

Co-author Dr Silvia Danise, also from the University of Plymouth, said: "Back in the laboratory, we broke down the samples and identified all of the fossils, recording their relative abundance, much like a marine biologist would do when sampling a modern environment. Then we ran the ecological analyses to determine how the marine sea floor community changed through time."

The team found a "dead zone" recorded in the rock, which showed virtually no signs of life and contained no fossils. This was followed by evidence of a return to life, but with new species recorded.

Prof Twitchett added: "The results show in unprecedented detail how the fossil Jurassic communities changed dramatically in response to a rise in sea level and temperature and a decline in oxygen levels. Patterns of change suffered by these Jurassic ecosystems closely mirror the changes that happen when modern marine communities are exposed to declining levels of oxygen.

"Similar ecological stages can be recognised in the fossil and modern communities despite differences in the species present and the scale of the studies." ( Press Association )
